- Ian Rapoport adds that if the Eagles are to bring in Ponder, it will be as a free agent.
- The Raiders are reportedly prepared to cut Ponder loose, according to Rapoport.
This comes after the Eagles released QB Tim Tebow to get down to the roster limited on Saturday. Interestingly enough, Philadelphia cut their squad down to 52 players, so they do have a roster spot available.
- According to Caplan, the Raiders will absorb $1.5m dead money from Ponder’s signing bonus.
Ponder, 27, hasn’t come anywhere the type of player the Vikings were hoping he could be when they used the No. 12 overall pick on him back in 2011.
The Raiders signed him to a one-year, $2.25 million contract that included a $1.5 million signing bonus back in March.
Last year, Ponder appeared in just two games and threw for 222 yards while completing 50 percent of his passes to go along with no touchdowns and two interceptions.
