Raiders Eyeing Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage on Day 2?

According to Vic Tafur of SFGate.com, the Raiders have been “in on” Pittsburgh QB Tom Savage “since the beginning of the scouting process.”

It’s widely believed that Oakland will not look to take a quarterback at pick No. 5; rather, they will look to address one of several other glaring needs.

Savage has been rising up draft boards the last month, and is now firmly entrenched as a day two selection.  He is a big quarterback with a big arm capable of making all the throws required for NFL quarterbacks.  He bounced around three colleges however, and battled consistency issues.

In trading for QB Matt Schaub, it appears that Oakland is comfortable with him at the helm for the 2014 season.

The Raiders hold the No. 36 pick in the second round, and they may need to pull the trigger on Savage there if they truly covet him.
