Raiders GM Interested In Signing LT Jared Veldheer & DE Lamarr Houston To Extensions

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie told reporters on Wednesday that he is interested in re-signing LT Jared Veldheer and DE Lamarr Houston to long-term contracts, according to Steve Corkran.

McKenzie specifically mentioned that he’s been in contact with Houston’s agent for a while regarding an extension. McKenzie added there are some other free agents on the team that he would like to keep as well.

Houston and Veldheer are arguably the best young players on the Raiders roster. Darren McFadden, who will also be an unrestricted free agent following the season, is also in that discussion.

Oakland just locked up FB Marcel Reece to the largest contract ever handed out to a fullback in league history. Still, the Raiders will have plenty of cap space to work with next season, so it’s feasible that they both players can be retained.

We have Houston, Veldheer and McFadden all listed in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list.
