Raiders Have Made C Stefen Wisniewski A Few Offers, But Not What He’s Looking For

Impending free agent C Stefen Wisniewski mentioned that the Raiders have extended him a few contract offers, but they have apparently been short of what he’s looking for, per Josh Dubow.

There is a chance that Wisniewski could be playing his final game with the Raiders on Sunday when they take on the Denver Broncos.

Wisniewski, 25, is finishing up his four-year, $4,135,402 rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent next March.

Oakland used a second-round pick on Wisniewski back in 2011 and he has gone on top appear in 60 out of 63 total games. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 980 snaps this season and rates his as the No. 15 center out of 40 qualifying players.

Wisniewski could end up having a good deal of leverage in contract talks with the Raiders, as applying the franchise tag would cost Oakland close to $11.5 million.

Last year, the Raiders saw left tackle Jared Veldheer depart for the Cardinals, so it would really hurt to lose another decent offensive lineman in 2015.

  1. I don’t want them to chase him too hard, but the reality is that good o-linemen aren’t easy to find. Big bodies are easy to find, but this line really needs some continuity and a top 15 out of 40 talent is worth shelling out of a few extra dollars. We finished last season’s round of free agency with a lot of money left on the table and not much to show for it.

  2. He’s nothing special, Veldheer was so don’t over pay him cause you lost Jared, thats how you get in cap trouble…..
If he doesn’t want to play for the upcoming Raiders let some other team get suckered…
One last thing he isn’t half the player his uncle was that’s for sure……
