Update:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that Raiders K Sebastian Janikowski agreed to a $1 million pay cut as part of the contract resolution with the team. According to Rapoport, Janikowski’s $3 million salary is now fully guaranteed.

  • According to Adam Schefter, Janikowski gets an additional $250,000 for converting 83 percent of his field goals this year.
  • Rapoport wonders if this could be the Raiders freeing up some cap space for LT Donald Penn, who is looking for a new contract.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Raiders and veteran K Sebastian Janikowski are currently in a contractual standoff that could determine whether he plays for Oakland this season.

According to Schefter, the Raiders have asked Janikowski to rework his contract that would pay him $4 million for the 2017 season. However, Janikowski has declined up to this point.

Schefter adds that this situation could be resolved as soon as Tuesday with the Raiders either signing a new kick or reworking his current deal.

Oakland reported brought in a few kickers on Monday for workouts including Mike Nugent, Josh Lambo and Marshall Koehn, so they are clearly preparing for the possibility that they could move in a different direction.

Janikowski, 39, is a former first-round pick of the Raiders back in 2000. He’s currently in the final year of his five-year, $18.9 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $4.05 million for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Janikowski appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and converted 29 of 35 field goal attempts (82.9 percent) to go along with 37 of 39 field goal tries (94.9 percent) and 43 touchbacks.
