Raiders & LT Donald Penn Closing In On Two-Year Extension

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Raiders and LT Donald Penn are closing in on a two-year extension that should be done at some point this week.

Penn ended his holdout a few weeks ago in the hope of getting a new deal worked out with the Raiders and it appears as though the team held up their end of the agreement.

Penn, 34, originally signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Utah State back in 2006. After a few months in Minnesota, Penn signed on with the Buccaneers during his rookie season and spent eight years in Tampa Bay before he was released back in 2014.

The Raiders signed to a contract soon after and brought him back on a two-year, $11.9 million contract that included $5 million guaranteed last year. Penn stands to make a base salary of $5.8 million for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Penn appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 12 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.
