Raiders Meeting With Texans S Marcus Gilchrist

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Raiders are hosting Texans free agent S Marcus Gilchrist for a visit on Thursday.

Gilchrist, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Chargers back in 2011. After four years San Diego, Gilchrist signed a four-year, $22 million contract with $8.5 million guaranteed in March of 2015.

Gilchrist was set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2017 season when the Jets elected to designate him as a post-June 1 release last year. It took until August for him to sign a one-year contract with the Jets.

He’s once again testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2017, Gilchrist appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and recorded 56 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 51 safety out of 87 qualifying players.
