Raiders Not Considering QBs Johnny Manziel & Blake Bortles At No. 5 Overall?

Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle has spoken to sources who have mentioned that the Raiders “aren’t really considering” UCF QB Blake Bortles or Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel at No. 5 overall.

However, Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie has said that he’s “open to everything” right now.

McKenzie also stressed that the addition of veteran QB Matt Schaub offers them some much needed stability at the quarterback position.

“What it does is just give us some stability at that position, and we needed that,” McKenzie said. “Because we traded for Schaub does that mean we’re going to bypass a (quarterback) that we’ve got graded a certain way? No.

There have been multiple reports that the Raiders would really like to trade out of the No. 5 spot and acquire some additional mid-round draft picks, which really makes sense when you consider that they are currently without a fifth and sixth-round pick.

Assuming Oakland keeps the pick, they could go any number of ways. Guys like Sammy Watkins, Jake Matthews and Taylor Lewan could still be on the board. Mike Evans could be another option given that some evalutors don’t see huge talent gap between him and Watkins.

We have the Raiders taking Watkins in the first round of our recently updated 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
