Raiders To Open Extension Talks With HC Jack Del Rio This Week

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Raiders will start negotiations on a contract extension for Jack Del Rio this week.

However, La Canfora expects this to be a pretty quick negotiation for the Raiders and Del Rio, so there could be an agreement in place at some point in the near future.

Del Rio just finished the second year of a four-year contract that he signed in January of last year, but Raiders owner Mark Davis has reportedly been really impressed with the job Del Rio has done for them.

Del Rio, 53, began his head coaching career with the Jaguars from 2003-2011 and led them to a regular season record of 68-71 (48.9 percent) and franchise to two playoff appearances.

After his time in Jacksonville, the Broncos signed him to become their defensive coordinator from 2012-2014 and helped create one of the strongest defenses in the NFL during that time.

We’ll have more regarding the Raiders and Del Rio as the news is available.
