Raiders Placing RT Austin Howard On Season-Ending I.R. & Promoting S Tevin McDonald

Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area reports that the Raiders are placing RT Austin Howard on season-ending injured reserve with a knee injury.

  • The Raiders are also promoting S Tevin McDonald to their active roster to take Howard’s place.

Howard, 28, is in the second year of his five-year, $30 million contract that includes $15 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $4.9 million this season and another $4.4 million in 2016.

Howard’s 2015 season comes to an end with him appearing in 13 total games for the Raiders. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 offensive tackle out of 76 qualifying players.

McDonald, 23, signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Washington shortly after this year’s draft. He was unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was quickly signed to the team’s practice squad.

Since then, he’s been on an off of their active roster.

This season, he has appeared in two games, but has yet to record a single statistic.
