Raiders Placing TE Gabe Holmes On Injured Reserve

Raiders HC Jack Del Rio announced Monday that they plan to place TE Gabe Holmes on injured reserve after he sustained a high-ankle sprain and broke a small bone in his ankle, per Scott Bair.

  • Damon Bail first mentioned over the weekend that he was hearing the Raiders were likely to place Holmes on injured reserve along with RB Jalen Richard.

Holmes, 25, wound up signing on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of preseason, but was cut loose just a few weeks later.

The Raiders later signed him to their practice squad after he cleared waivers. Oakland elected to bring Holmes back on a one-year, exclusive rights contract in April.

Holmes has yet to appear in an NFL game.
