Raiders Plan On Starting Carson Palmer This Weekend?

During an appearence on a morning radio station, Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Al Saunders mentioned that Carson Palmer he see’s Palmer starting on Sunday “as long as he’s breathing,” according to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times.

Considering what the Raiders gave up in return for Palmer it makes sense that they would like to see him in action as soon as possible but you’d have to think that he’s going to need some time to be effective. Then again, much was made about the shortened offseason and the impact that it was likely to have on rookie quarterbacks but Andy Dalton and Cam Newton seem to be doing just fine.

Palmer has played in Hue Jackson’s system before so he should be some what familar with what they are trying to do offensively. Still it wouldn’t be surprising for the Raiders to lean on their productive running game against the Chiefs.

The Raiders must have very little confidence in Kyle Boller as their starting quarterback.
