Raiders Promote LBs James Cowser & Tyrell Adams, Waive 2 Other Players

According to Adam Caplan, the Raiders have promoted LB James Cowser and LB Tyrell Adams from their practice squad. Additionally, they waived TE Ryan O’Malley and OT Matt McCants in corresponding roster moves.

Cowser, 26, wound up going undrafted out of Southern Utah before signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Raiders back in May. Unfortunately, the Raiders waived him with an injury designation and he later reverted to their injured reserve list after clearing waivers.

Oakland decided to waive him with an injury settlement before signing him to their practice squad.

He has yet to appear during an NFL game.

McCants, 27, is a former sixth-round pick of the Giants back in 2012. He spent just over a year in New York before he was waived at the start of the 2013 season and later signed by the Raiders to their practice squad.

The Raiders used a low-round restricted tender on McCants that would have paid him $1,671,000 for the 2016 season. However, he agreed to take a pay cut down to  $675,000 back in September.

In 2016, McCants has appeared in two games for the Raiders.
