The Oakland Raiders officially promoted OL Denver Kirkland to their active roster on Wednesday.
- The Raiders also signed LB Darnell Sankey to their practice squad.
The Raiders’ practice squad now consists of:
- WR K.J. Brent
- CB Kenneth Durden
- DL Branden Jackson
- LB Darnell Sankey
- WR Jaydon Mickens
- TE Ryan O’Malley
- G Oni Omoile
- OT Takoby Cofield
- DE Jimmy Bean
- DE Demetrius Cherry
Kirkland, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas back in May. He was, unfortunately, unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was later signed to the team’s practice squad.
Sankey originally signed on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Sacramento State. Unfortunately, Denver chose to waive him as they trimmed down to 75 players.
During his four-year college career, Sankey recorded 330 tackles, 12.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two recoveries an interception and nine pass defenses. Sankey earned FCS All-America honors during his senior season at Sacramento State.
