Raiders Promoting WR Isaac Whitney To Active Roster

According to Michael Gehlken, the Raiders are expected to promote WR Isaac Whitney from their practice squad at some point this week.

Raiders WR Michael Crabtree has been suspended two games and WR Amari Cooper is recovering from both a concussion and an ankle sprain, so it was clear that Oakland was going to have to bolster their receiver depth this week.

Whitney, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of USC back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Raiders cut him loose coming out of the preseason and later signed him to their practice squad.

During his college career at USC, Whitney caught 11 passes for 144 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of eight games.
