Raiders Pushing To Hire Teryl Austin As Asst. HC/DBs Coach

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Raiders are pushing to hire Lions DC Teryl Austin as their assistant head coach/DBs coach.

This comes after Rapoport reported Sunday night that Austin in negotiations with the Bengals to become their new defensive coordinator.

It’s been clear that Austin’s time in Detroit was coming to an end, even though he did interview for their head-coaching job last week. The Lions would not have allowed Austin to meet with the Bengals last Friday regarding their vacancy if they weren’t prepared to move on without him,

Austin, 52, began his NFL coaching career with the Seahawks back in 2003 as their defensive backs coach. He had stints with the Cardinals and Ravens before the Lions hired him as their defensive coordinator back in 2014.

We’ll have more regarding the Austin as the news is available.
