Marshawn Lynch Out “At Least A Month” With Groin Injury, IR “Strong Possibility”

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Raiders RB Marshawn Lynch is out at least a month after an MRI revealed the extent of his groin injury.

Rapoport adds that Lynch ending up on injured reserve is a “strong possibility.”

The Raiders are on bye this week, so that will save them one game, but Lynch still figures to miss multiple contests with this injury.

This opens the door for Doug Martin, Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington to handle the carries for the Raiders moving forward.

Lynch, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Bills back in 2007. He played three seasons in Buffalo before he was traded to the Seahawks.

Lynch decided to retire after six years with the Seahawks, but later came out of retirement last year and was traded to the Raiders. He’s currently in the final year of his contract and set to make a base salary of $6 million for the 2018 season.

Lynch will be an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2018, Lynch has appeared in six games for the Raiders and rushed for 376 yards on 90 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with 15 receptions for 84 yards receiving and three total touchdowns.
