Raiders Re-Sign S Taylor Mays, Send DE Justin Tuck To I.R.

The Oakland Raiders announced that they’ve officially placed DE Justin Tuck on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday and re-signed veteran S Taylor Mays.

Mays, 27, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He was later traded to the Bengals for an undisclosed draft pick just a year later, and spent four seasons with the franchise, while largely contributing to their special teams unit.

The Vikings elected to sign him to a one-year contract worth $745,000 back in March. However, his time was short lived, as Minnesota later released him a few months ago.

Since then, Mays has been on and off the Raiders’ roster, as they try to deal with roster needs.

This season, Mays has appeared in three games and recorded six tackles for the Raiders.

Tuck sustained a torn right pectoral muscle a few weeks ago and reports had said that he was headed to the injured reserve list.

Tuck, 32, is in the final year of his two-year, $11 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $3.35 million for the 2015 season.

Tuck’s 2015 season concludes with him appearing in five games and recording 14 tackles, one sack, and three pass defenses for the Raiders.
