Raiders Release LB Derrick Johnson, Promote LB Jason Cabinda

The Oakland Raiders announced Tuesday that they’ve released LB Derrick Johnson and promoted LB Jason Cabinda to their active roster.

Reports from over the weekend mentioned that Oakland had made Johnson available for trade, but it appears no deal ever surfaced.

Johnson, 35, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2005. He was entering in the second year of his three-year, $21 million contract when he agreed to a pay cut last year.

Johnson later signed one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Raiders this past March.
In 2018, Johnson appeared in six games for the Raiders and recorded 17 tackles and no sacks or interceptions.
