Raiders Sign FB Marcel Reece To A Three-Year Extension

The Oakland Raiders have announced that they’ve signed FB Marcel Reece a three-year contract extension.

  • Ian Rapoport reports that Reece receives a three-year deal worth $13 million, which includes a staggering $7.2 million guaranteed.

This contract makes Reece the highest paid fullback in the league based on average salary and total guarantees. He’ll will bu under team control through the 2016 season.

Reece, 28, was in the final year of his contract and is set to make $1.423 million for the 2013 season.

According to Pro Football Focus, Reese was the No. 2 fullback in the league last season and was effective in all three phases — rushing, receiving and blocking. Reese’s overall versatility was probably one of the most factors to him getting an extension, given that it’s becoming harder and harder for fullbacks around the league to keep their jobs.
