ESPN’s John Clayton reports that the Oakland Raiders have made the decision to pass on OT Jared Gaither. Instead Oakland has re-signed OT Khalif Barnes to a one-year deal.
It will be interesting to see what team gambles on Gaither now that the Raiders have passed.
The previous report has since been refuted by Gaither’s agent Drew Rosenhaus via twitter.
Gaither is one of the high upside/high risk players in this years free agent class. The fact that the Raiders were the ones to gamble on talent shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
Last year Gaither suffered a serious neck injury so there’s going to some concerns in regards to his health.
