Raiders Signing LB Rufus Johnson

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Raiders are signing LB Rufus Johnson to a contract on Thursday.

Many have been wondering when the Raiders would bring in a linebacker and it appears as though Johnson will get a shot to impress the coaching staff this preseason.

It’s worth mentioning that Johnson was just recently involved in an accident that totaled his car.

Johnson, 26, is a former sixth-round pick of the Saints back in 2013. He spent just over a year in New Orleans before he was waived at the start of the season.

The Patriots later signed him to future/reserve contracts in each of the next two seasons before releasing him coming out of the preseason before adding him to their practice squad for a few days.

The Redskins later signed him to a contract during the 2016 and brought him back on a futures deal this past January. However, he was cut loose shortly after this year’s draft.

In 2015, Johnson appeared in one game for New England and recorded just one tackle.
