Raiders TE Lee Smith Suffered Fractured Lower Leg, Season In Jeopardy

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Raiders TE Lee Smith suffered a fractured bone in his lower leg during Sunday’s game that could cost him the remainder of the season.

Yesterday, David Chao mentioned that it appeared as though Smith suffered a fractured right ankle, which would likely require surgery and lead to him being placed on injured reserve.

Smith, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2011. After four years with the Bills, Smith signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the Raiders back in March of 2015. Smith stands to make a $2.5 million base salary for the 2016 season.

In 2016, Lee has caught five passes for 28 yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Raiders over the course of three games.
