Raiders To Place DE LaMarr Woodley & S Usama Young On I.R.

Raiders HC Tony Sparano told reporters on Friday that he expects the team to place DE/OLB LaMarr Woodley and S Usama Young on season-ending injured reserve Saturday, per Steve Corkran.

Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the week that Woodley was expected to miss the rest of the season with a torn biceps muscle, so this news shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

Oakland signed Woodley to a two-year, $12 million contract back in March after he was cut loose by the Steelers. However, he had been largely disappointing for the Raiders.

This season, Woodley has recorded just five tackles over the course of six games and Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense out of 49 qualifying players.

Young, 29, is in the first year of his two-year, $2.35 million contract. He suffered both an ACL and MCL tear last weekend, so he has a long recovery ahead of him.

Young’s 2014 season ends with him recorded 23 tackles, one sack and two passes defended over the course of six games.
