Raiders Unlikely To Re-Sign TE Brandon Myers?

Impending free agent Brandon Myers mentioned that although he would like to be back in Oakland next year, it doesn’t sound like the Raiders are all that interested in retaining him.

“I’m optimistic that they might give me an offer, but I guess they had a conversation at the combine and it didn’t sound like they were ready to do that,” Myers said, via the Oakland Tribune. “We’ll just see where it takes is.”

Jerry McDonald writes that Oakland only has $1.5 million in cap space to work with as of now, but adds that they could free up some addition space by addressing the contracts of QB Carson Palmer, WR Darrius Heyward-Bey and DT Tommy Kelly in the next few days.

Myers, 27, out up career highs across the board in 2012, but offers next to nothing as a blocking tight end, according to Pro Football Focus’ ratings.

We have Myers listed as the No. 69 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
