Raiders Waive DE Lavar Edwards

The Oakland Raiders announced Friday that they’ve placed DE Lavar Edwards on waivers to make room for OLB Aldon Smith, who signed a one-year deal with the team.

Oakland just claimed Edwards off of waivers from the Cowboys on Monday, so his time with the team was obviously short lived.

Edwards, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Titans back in 2013. Tennessee later traded him to the Cowboys for a conditional seventh round pick.

Edwards wound up making the 53-man roster last year, but was later placed on waivers in October before ending up on their practice squad.

Dallas later elected to sign him to a future/reserve contract in January. However, he was waived yesterday after they traded for RB Christine Michael

In 2014, Edwards appeared in just four games and recorded only a single tackle.
