Update:

The Oakland Raiders announced that they’ve released S Taylor Mays and promoted S Tevin McDonald to their active roster.

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Raiders are releasing S Taylor Mays on Saturday.

Mays, 27, is a former second-round pick of the 49ers back in 2010. He was later traded to the Bengals for an undisclosed draft pick just a year later, and spent four seasons with the franchise, while largely contributing to their special teams unit.

The Vikings elected to sign him to a one-year contract worth $745,000 back in March. However, his time was short lived, as Minnesota later released him a few months ago.

Mays was unfortunately among the Raiders’ final roster cuts, but was later brought back after they sustained some injuries at safety.

This season, Mays has appeared in three games and recorded six tackles for the Raiders.
