Raiders Will Give Terrelle Pryor A Shot At Winning The Starting QB Job

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie mentioned while appearing on Sirius XM NFL that Terrelle Pryor will be given an opportunity to compete for the team’s starting quarterback position next year, per Alex Marvez.

Oakland has said that Carson Palmer is still part of their plans for next season, but he’s hardly playing his best football at this point in his career. The fact that he counts $16.89 million against their cap next season leaves them in a pretty tough spot financially, so it makes sense that they would at least see what Pryor can do next season.

There was a lot of talk towards the end of the season that Pryor was going to see some playing time, but he wound up playing only 72 snaps during the team’s final three games.

  1. I know there was a lot of garbage time for the Raiders this season but Palmer did pass for 4000+ yards, completed >60% of his passes, and had 22 TDs to 14 INTs. I would argue he probably had his best season in 5 years.
