Raiders Will Make Carson Palmer Compete For Starting QB Job

The Oakland Raiders officially introduced new GM Reggie McKenzie today during a press conference but McKenzie’s first order of business seemed to overshadow his big. Oakland fired head coach Hue Jackson after McKenzie said that he wanted a fresh start.

McKenzie was about his plan for QB Carson Palmer and whether he can see him starting for the team next season.

“Palmer will not be immune to a good player … pushing him,” said McKenzie, per Paul Gutierrez.

Jackson was responsible for trading for Palmer earlier in the season so a fresh start could mean that Palmer will have competition at the start of training camp. McKenzie worked with the Packers organization who is known for building their team in the draft so you can expect to see Palmer with the team until they have better means to draft a future prospect.
