Raiders Wouldn’t Hesitate To Draft WR Mike Evans At No. 5 Overall

Ian Rapoport believes that the Raiders “would not think twice about grabbing Mike Evans at No. 5.

“From what I understand is that if McKenzie was waiting on a Calvin Johnson or someone like that in the first round he would take him,” Rapoport said, via NFL.com. “The belief is that Evans is similar to that category. He’s big, he’s physical, he can go up and get it. I believe if he was there the Raiders would not think twice about grabbing Mike Evans at No. 5.”

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the Raiders are believed to prefer Mike Evans to Sammy Watkins.

Jay Glazer reported earlier in the week that no prospect has risen up draft boards faster in recent weeks than Evans.

The idea that Oakland could prefer Evans actually came up a few weeks ago, so this news isn’t a complete shock.

It still seems like the Raiders would prefer to trade out of the No. 5 overall pick and acquire some additional draft picks in the process.

We have the Raiders trading down to No. 10 overall with the Lions and taking Pittsburgh DT Aaron Donald in our final 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
