Oakland used a low-round tender on Holmes close to a month ago that will pay him salary of around $1.54 million for the 2015 season. Had he received an offer from another NFL team, the Raiders would not have received any draft compensation.
Holmes, 26, originally signed on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Hillsdale back in 2011. He later caught on with the Cowboys and Patriots before the Raiders eventually signed him May of 2013.
Last year, Holmes appeared in 16 games and caught 47 passes for 693 yards receiving and four touchdowns for the Raiders. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 91 receiver out of 110 qualifying players in 2014.
