Rams Activate S Cody Davis From IR, Place OLB Matt Longacre On IR

The Los Angeles Rams announced Friday that they’ve officially activated S Cody Davis from injured reserve and placed OLB Matt Longacre on I.R.

Davis, 28, wound up signing on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Texas Tech back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his two-year, $2.91 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,111,111 for the 2017 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.

Davis was placed on injured reserve this November with a thigh injury he sustained during the team’s Week 6 game. The Rams officially designated Davis to a return a few weeks ago, so this move was expected.

In 2017, Davis has appeared in six games for the Rams and recorded 19 tackles, one interception and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 safety out of 81 qualifying players.

Longacre, 26, signed on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Northwest Missouri State back in May of 2015. He stands to make a base salary of $615,000 this year and is set to become a restricted free agent.

In 2017, Longacre has appeared in 14 games for the Rams and recorded 23 tackles, 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus rates him as the No. 65 overall edge defender out of 111 qualifying players.
