Rams & Broncos Discussed Potential Case Keenum Trade Before DEN Went With Trevor Siemian

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Broncos and Rams had some trade talks regarding QB Case Keenum during the offseason.

However, the Broncos really believed in Trevor Siemian and his ability to handle the starting job.

Beyond, Rapoport mentions that the Rams wanted “significant” draft or player compensation for Keenun, which explains why trade talks didn’t go very far.

Both teams used their first-round picks on quarterbacks back in May, but it appears as though they feel it’s best for them to buy Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch some time to develop.

Keenum, 28, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Houston back in 2013. He spent two years with the Texans before he was claimed off of waivers by the Rams.

He later returned to the Texans before being traded to the Rams for a 2016 seventh-round pick. The Rams elected to use a first-round tender on Keenum several months ago will pay him $3.635 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Keenum appeared in six games and threw for 828 yards while completing 60.8 percent of his passes to go along with four touchdowns and an interception.
