Rams Claim QB Case Keenum Off Waivers From Texans

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Rams have claimed former Texans QB Case Keenum off of waivers on Monday.

Keenum was placed on waivers shortly after the Texans acquired Ryan Mallett via a trade with the Patriots.

Keenum, 26, has one year remaining on his contract and stands to make $495,000 for the upcoming season. However, he’ll be an exclusive rights free agent, which essentially means the team can re-up him for a very reasonable salary next without having to deal with other interested teams.

Last year, Keenum appeared in eight games and completed 54.2 percent of his passes for 1,760 yards, nine touchdowns and six interceptions.

We’ll have to see if the Rams keep current backup QB Austin Davis on their 53-man now that they’ve added Keenum.
