Rams Expected To Pick Up Fifth-Year Option On DE Robert Quinn

According to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Dispatch, the Rams are expected to pick up DE Robert Quinn‘s fifth-year option before the May 3 deadline.

NFL teams have already begun to pick up fifth-year options on 2011 first-round picks, and it should come as no surprise that the Rams will likely do so with Quinn.

Quinn’s option would the Rams $6.9 million for the 2015 season, but the salary is non-guaranteed, so they could always work on a long-term deal that would reduce that figure and keep him under team control in the coming years.

Quinn, still only 23, is coming off of an extremely impressive season in which he totaled 57 tackles, 19 sacks, seven forced fumbles, two recoveries and a defensive touchdown.

Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 1 defensive end in a 3-4 system by a huge margin.
