Rams Find A New Center In Scott Wells

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the St Louis Rams have reached an agreement with former Packers C Scott Wells. The Rams will pay Wells $24 million over four-year and include $13 million guarantees.

Earlier this morning, there were reports that the Titans were in the lead for Wells’ services but he ultimately chose the Rams over them. Talks between him and the Packers had grown contentious as of late so the fact that he chose to move on comes as little surprise. Wells was reportedly seeking a deal that would pay him an average base salary of $7 million per season. It will be interesting to see how close the Rams come to that number.

This could leave the Packers looking for a center in this year’s draft and you’d have to think that Wisconsin C Peter Konz could be a possible target for them at #28. We had Wells listed as the #36 best available free agent in our recently updated Top 50 Free Agents list.
