Report: Dolphins Among Teams That Offers Out To G Shelley Smith

Update:

Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have made free agent G Shelley Smith a contract offer.

  • Beasley adds that Smith has offers from other teams and refers to the situations as being “fluid” at this point in time.

Smith has reportedly visited with the Giants and Patriots.

Smith, 26, was taken in the sixth-round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. He later joined the Rams and has appeared in 24 games.

Last year, he played 371 offensive snaps and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 23 guard in the league. Smith was rated as a very good run-blocking guard for the Rams, which could explain the level of interest in him right now.

Adam Beasley confirms that t Rams free agent G Shelley Smith will visit with the Dolphins on Thursday.

  • Smith has already met with the Patriots and Giants.

Jim Thomas reports that Rams free agent G Shelley Smith left his visit with Giants and didn’t receive a contract offer.

  • Thomas adds that Smith is now visiting with the Patriots and is scheduled to meet with the Dolphins at some point.

———-

ESPN’s Adam Caplan first reported that Rams free-agent G Shelley Smith is visiting the Giants on Wednesday.

Jim Thomas of the St Louis Post-Dispatch reported a few days ago that four teams had already expressed interest in Smith, so it appears as though he could have a better that expected market.
