Rams Free Up Cap Space By Restructuring Chris Long’s Contract

Jim Thomas reports that the St Louis Rams restructured the contract of DE Chris Long. By doing so, the Rams create $4.5 million in much needed cap space.

Aaron Wilson reports that Rams converted $6 million of Long’s $13.25 million base salary for the 2013 season into a roster bonus.

St Louis had less than $1 million to work with before this roster move, so it makes sense that they would get this out of the way before the upcoming draft. They may have to sign two first-round picks, as well as the rest of their draft class depending on how things play out this weekend.
