Rams LB Alec Ogletree Has Broken Fibula, Expected To Undergo Surgery

Update:

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that Rams LB Alec Ogletree has a broken fibula and is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday, at this point in time.

Former NFL Physician David Chao mentioned earlier in the day that a fractured fibula requires a minimum six weeks to heal, but it’s more likely a 12-week injury that will require surgery and ultimately end with the player being placed on injured reserve.

Rams HC Jeff Fisher told reporters after Sunday’s win over the Cardinals that LB Alec Ogletree will require ankle surgery and could be candidate for short-term injured reserve, per Nick Wagoner.

Fisher added that they’re still unsure of what they’ll do in regards to Ogletree in the coming days.

Should St. Louis elect to place him on injured reserve with the designation to return, he would miss the next eight games.

Ogletree was carted off the field after his right leg was rolled up from behind during the third quarter of Sunday’s game.

Ogletree, 24, is in the third year of his  four-year, $7.03 million contract that include d a $3.492 million signing bonus. He’ll make a base salary of $1,044,092 for the 2015 season.

Entering today, Ogletree had recorded 32 tackles and two sacks for the Rams’ defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 18 outside linebacker out of qualifying players.
