Rams LB Alec Ogletree Says Extension Is “In The Works” & “Will Get Done”

Rams LB Alec Ogletree said Friday that a long-term deal is “in the works” with Los Angeles and he’s confident that an agreement will be in place at some point in the near future.

I still don’t have a deal yet but it’s in the works,” Ogletree said, per Gary Klein. “When it happens, it happens. It will get done eventually.

Ogletree is in line for a big extension with the Rams and it sounds like there’s enough optimism about deal getting down to prevent him from becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

Ogletree, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Rams back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $7.03 million contract but had his fifth-year option picked up last year, which means he’ll make a base salary of $8.369 million for the 2017 season before testing the open market next March.

In 2016, Ogletree appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 137 tackles, no sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumbles, a recovery and 11 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 57 linebacker out of 88 qualifying players.
