Rams Likely To Place First-Round RB Todd Gurley On NFI List

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, citing sources informed of his situation, reported Monday that the Rams are expected to place first-round RB Todd Gurley on the Non-Football Injury list at the start of training camp.

According to Rapoport, this has been the Rams’ plan all along even after they elected to use the No. 10 overall pick on Gurley a few months ago.

St. Louis can always remove him from the list as soon as he’s fully healthy and ready to contribute.

Gurley has said previously that he was hoping to participate in training camp to some extent, but he’s still around eight months removed from a serious knee injury, so it’s likely that the Rams will be extremely cautious with his involvement over the next few months.

Last year, Gurley was suspended for four games after it was found that he accepted money for autographs. Upon returning to Georgia, Gurley unfortunately sustained the season-ending knee injury.

Gurley finished his college career with 3,285 rushing yards on 510 carries (6.4 YPC) to go along with 65 receptions for 615 yards receiving and 42 total touchdowns. He also contributed two kick return touchdowns as well.
