Rams Place WR Stedman Bailey On Season-Ending NFI List

The St. Louis Rams placed WR Stedman Bailey on the reserve/non-football injury list, ending his season, according Nick Wagoner of ESPN.

This is really just a formality, as Bailey is recovering from being shot multiple times a few weeks ago.

Rams HC Jeff Fisher told reporters in recent weeks that from a health standpoint, it looks like Bailey will not be able to play football again.

Fisher didn’t elaborate much beyond that, but it’s clear that he would be lucky to return to game action after he was shot in the head back on Nov. 24.

Bailey wound up undergoing extensive surgery that required him being placed in a medically induced coma.

A few weeks ago, Bailey posted a tweet explaining how lucky he was while adding that his recovery was “nothing short of a miracle.”

Bailey’s four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy ended today, and the receiver will likely be placed on the non-football injury list, ending his season.

Bailey, 24, is in the third year of his four-year, $2.736 million contract that included a $527,400 signing bonus. He stands to make base salaries of $601,234 and $690,123 over the remainder of the contract.

This season, Bailey has caught 12 passes for 182 yards receiving and one touchdown over the course of eight games for the Rams.

We’ll have more regarding Bailey’s future as the news is available.
