Rams Placing K Greg Zuerlein On Injured Reserve, Signing K Sam Ficken

Adam Schefter reports that the Rams are placing K Greg Zuerlein on injured reserve due to a herniated disc in his back and are signing K Sam Ficken to their active roster.

This is unfortunate news for Los Angeles and one of the best kickers in the league, who was elected to go to this year’s Pro Bowl. Schefter described his injury as a “surprise setback.”

Zuerlein, 29, is a former six-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He is in the first year of a three-year, $6.75 million contract that he signed back in March.

In 2017, Zuerlein appeared in 14 games for the Rams and recorded 38 field goals on 40 attempts (95 percent), 44 of 46 extra point attempts (95.7), and 73 touchbacks.
