NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora writes that the St. Louis Rams could end up throwing a “major curveball” in next week’s draft, by taking Mississippi State DT Fletcher Cox with the #6 overall pick.
La Canfora mentions that “few teams loaded up on more defensive linemen than [Jeff] Fisher’s Titans.”
Many expect to see the Rams take one of RBÂ Trent Richardson, CB Morris Claiborne or WRÂ Justin Blackmon, but La Canfora mentions that Cox is the type of player that Fisher would’ve targeted in the previous years.
Cox has seen his stock soar in the weeks leading up to the draft, but it seemed like the highest he could go would be to the Panthers at #9. It would still be surprising to see the Rams pass on some of the other players mentioned, but they have been reportedly considering making a move either up or down, so I guess it’s at least a remote possibility.
