Rams Promote WR Nick Toon To Active Roster, Place DB Eric Patterson On IR

The St. Louis Rams officially promoted WR Nick Toon to their active roster on Friday.

Toon, 27, was entering the final year of his four-year, $2.51 million rookie contract when he was released by the Saints as they reduced their roster to 53-players coming out of the preseason.

Toon worked out for a few teams before eventually signing on to the Rams practice squad a few weeks into the season.

In 2014, Toon appeared in seven games and caught 17 passes for 215 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Saints.

Patterson, 22, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Ball State following this year’s NFL draft. However, he lasted just a month in New England before he was waived and later signed to the Colts’ practice squad.

The Rams elected to sign him to their practice squad a few months ago before recently promoting him to their active roster.

This season, Patterson appeared in three games and record three total tackles.
