Rams QB Sam Bradford Could “Fetch A Strong Return” On The Trading Block?

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports spoke with “several front office executives” who believe the Rams could “fetch a strong return” for QB Sam Bradford if they were to place him on the trading block.

La Canfora’s sources mentioned that some of the GMs selecting towards the top of the draft could prefer to gamble on Bradford over some of the prospects in this year’s draft class.

They love the kid, at least the ones I’ve talked to about him,” one NFL executive said. “He’s still a pretty popular figure with them. And everyone knows he’s a tremendous kid. If he was available I would expect there to be a lot of coaches in personnel meetings who would think they would be the guy to get him to fulfill his potential.

The Rams have said all along that they would like to sign Bradford to a long-term extension at some point and view him as their future quarterback, so this idea is really rooted in speculation more than anything else.

According to La Canfora, the Jaguars, Browns, Vikings, Texans and the Bills could all make sense for Bradford.

Bradford, 26, still has two years remaining on his contract with base salaries of $14.015 million and $12.985 million coming his way during this time. As things stand right now, he has a $17.6 million cap figure next season, which means he represents an easy source of cap space if the Rams were to get him signed to an extension.

Last year, Bradford appeared in seven games for St. Louis before going down with a torn ACL. He completed 60.7 percent of his passes for 1,687 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions.
