Rams RB Isaiah Pead Suspended For One-Game

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that the NFL has suspended Rams RB Isaiah Pead for one game for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

The ban stems from a “minor violation” from last year that has not been disclosed as of yet. However, The Rams reportedly knew about Pead’s one-game suspension “for months” now but still have high expectations for the former 2012 second round pick.

Previous reports stated that Pead had difficulty picking up the offensive playbook last season after being forced away from the team due to a CBA clause which prevents rookies to join the team until their school year is complete.

Because Pead began performing well in the second half of the season this suspension is unfortunate for the second-year runningback.  However, Pead should continue to compete for a starting spot with RB Daryl Richardsonand Zac Stacygoing into the season.
