Rams Re-Sign RFA RB Benny Cunningham

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Rams restricted free agent RB Benny Cunningham has signed his one-year tender.

The Rams used a low-round tender on Cunningham that will run them $1,671,000 for the 2016 season. This designation gave them the right of first refusal on any contract offer he received, but wouldn’t have included any compensation had they elected to not match an offer.

The Patriots actually brought Cunningham in for a visit close to a month ago, but never signed him to an offer sheet.

Cunningham, 25, wound up signing on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Middle Tennessee State back in 2013. He’s managed to make the 53-man roster each of his three years in the NFL.

In 2015, Cunningham appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and ran for 140 yards on 37 carries to go along with 26 receptions for 250 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
