Rams Reportedly Have No Interest In Free Agent G Evan Mathis

A Rams’ source tells Jason Cole of Bleacher Report that they have “no interest” in free agent G Evan Mathis, and instead prefer to let their younger players progress.

There had been talk that the Rams could be among the teams interested in possibly signing the former Eagle to a contract before the start of training camp.

Last we heard, Robert Klemko of MMQB.com mentioned that there are 10 NFL teams with interest in Mathis.

This fits with what Mathis’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said a few weeks ago.

One of the things that I’ve assured the teams that are interested in Evan is that I’m simply not going to identify who they are and talk about them because they have a set roster at this point,” said Rosenhaus, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “But there are 10 teams that have expressed bona fide interest in signing Evan.”

Mathis, 33, is by far the best available free agent offensive lineman and should have a decent market for his services.

Since he became available, the Bills, Dolphins, Giants, Jets, Seahawks, Chiefs, Patriots and Vikings have also come up as potential options.

Last year, Mathis appeared in nine games for the Eagles after he dealt with an MCL injury. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 2 guard out of 78 qualifying players.

We have Mathis listed as the No. 1 player in our Top 25 Best Available Free Agents list.
