Rams Request To Interview Pat Shurmur For Their OC Vacancy

Jason La Canfora reports that the Rams have requested permission to interview Eagles OC Pat Shurmur for the offensive coordinator job.

La Canfora believes the Rams hiring Shurmur would be a “natural move” for the team, given their continuous cycle of weak quarterback play and tendency to change coordinators.

For Shurmur to venture to Los Angeles, the Eagles must officially hire another person as offensive coordinator. Frank Reich interviewed with Philadelphia on Tuesday, while Brad Childress has been mentioned as another candidate for the position.

Interesting enough, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported earlier this week that the Ram were expected to name Rob Boras their full-time offensive coordinator, but could meet with other options as well.

Boras was promoted to offensive coordinator back in December after the Rams fired Frank Cignetti Jr.

Shurmur, 50, has been the Eagles’ offensive coordinator since 2013 and was named interim head coach following the dismissal of Chip Kelly. His one appearance as head coach finished in a 35-30 victory over the Giants.

In 2015, the Eagles offense ranked No. 12 in passing yards, No. 14 in rushing yards, No. 12 in yards-per-game and No. 13 in points-per-game.

We will provide more information regarding the Rams’ offensive coordinator vacancy as the news becomes available.
